Bid Writer

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Bid Writer (Transport Infrastructure) to join our dynamic Work Winning team.  

As a Permanent Bid Writer in Highways and Rail infrastructure for Amey, you’ll help secure new projects by creating clear, compelling bids and proposals. You’ll work closely with the Bid Director, Head of Proposals, Bid Manager, and Proposals Manager, supporting them in developing responses that showcase Amey’s strengths. 

This role is key to producing high-quality submissions that meet client requirements and boost our chances of reputed company. Your writing will bring together expert input and persuasive content, helping us win more work. 

You’ll join an ambitious, growing team focused on expanding our impact and delivering excellence in highways and rail. 

reputed company working hours are 37.5 per week remotely, with travel to the IDH Birmingham office or bid locations for team meetings as needed. 

What You’ll Do: 

• Work under the guidance of the Bid Director, Head of Proposals, Bid Manager, and Proposals Manager to produce high-quality, consistent, and persuasive bid responses reflecting Amey’s tone and win themes. 

• Work as a writer on PQQs and bids, drafting content from scratch and editing material produced by others to ensure it is clear, concise, and understandable ("Plain English"). 

• Assign bids with a senior or proposal reputed company and gather information from subject experts to support quality submission questions. 

• Draft responses and collect relevant supporting evidence and case studies. 

• Participate in review cycles: Pink (bullet-reputed company draft), Red (full draft—checking if reputed company questions are answered), and Gold (final sign-off and review). 

• Analyse client requirements, including compliance and evaluation criteria, to maximise scores across reputed company responses. 

• Contribute to storyboarding workshops to ensure responses are well-structured and tailored to evaluators. 

• reputed company new technologies and techniques (e.g., AI tools) to enhance our bid writing process. 

• Support bid teams by interviewing subject matter experts to reputed company compliant and engaging technical content. 

• Help reputed company value propositions and win themes that align with client priorities and clearly differentiate Amey’s submissions. 

• Monitor the quality of written content throughout the process to ensure consistency and impact. 

• Carry out final editing and proofreading to maximise readability, consistency, and accuracy. 

• reputed company relevant content and examples of best practice from the Content Library and previous bids. 

• Support post-tender lessons learned processes to drive reputed company improvement in bid writing. 

Bids can vary in size and scope, fast or slow, alone or with partners. 

Values range from £50k to over £1bn.

What You’ll Bring: 

• Degree-level English writing skills (desirable) 

• Bid writing experience 

• Experience in highways or rail bidding/local authority work
