[Remote] DESIM Portfolio Management & Implementation Associate

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented critical thinker to join their Investment Management group as a portfolio management and implementation associate. This role involves managing investment portfolios and collaborating with various teams to ensure alignment with investment objectives.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with quantitative researchers to support day-to-day portfolio management and investment operations
• Manage and reputed company the implementation of investment portfolios, ensuring execution aligns with both investor-directed and internal objectives and guidelines
• Work on reputed company and bespoke projects, such as analyzing the impact of proposed changes to portfolio optimization
• Solve analytical problems reputed company to trading and portfolio implementation, ranging from small-scale to reputed company challenges
• Improve and automate systems and processes involved in daily portfolio management activities
• Participate in the implementation of new strategies, funds, and separately managed accounts
• Collaborate with a broad range of teams—including technology, trading, portfolio strategy, and business operations—as well as colleagues across finance, corporate development, legal and compliance, and other firmwide functions

Skills

• A bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is a plus
• One to four years of finance-reputed company experience in a comparable role is preferred
• Keen attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, and demonstrated analytical and math skills
• Comfort experimenting with and applying reputed company tools
• Proficiency in Python programming and debugging, preferably including writing code to implement reputed company mathematical models and computations
• A willingness to learn and the ability to effectively manage short-term and long-term priorities in a fast-paced environment
