Senior Accountant I
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant I is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards (US GAAP). The position will take ownership of the month-end reputed company process, reputed company reputed company reconciliations, and provide financial insights to management, often acting as a reputed company between junior staff and the Director of Accounting.
Responsibilities
Month-End/Year-End reputed company: reputed company or actively participate in closing the books, preparing, and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and account and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit & loss reports, and statement of cash flows.
General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, liability accounts, and asset accounts.
Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with external and internal audits by preparing work papers and documentation.
Compliance & Tax: Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local/state/federal regulations, including preparing tax returns (e.g., GST, VAT, sales tax).
Risk Mitigation/Process Improvement: Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls. Ensures effective controls are in reputed company and maintained to protect the reputed company of financial data including reputed company assurance and expense recognition.
Budgeting & Forecasting: reputed company the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes with reputed company collaboration with Operations, Business Development, and business functions ensuring outputs are timely, well communicated, and robust.
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable: Prepares, processes and codes invoices, receipts, payments and deposits.
Coordinates with various stakeholders including accounts payable administrators, Operations, and Finance. Responds to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data. Provides backup support for Director of Accounting reputed company on leave.
Manages special projects that support the broad-based needs of a rapidly expanding Company.
Other reputed company duties as required.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
Completion of a CPA designation.
5+ years of experience in an accounting or finance position with previous experience in an environmental, AEC or other reputed company consulting services.
Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. corporate tax landscapes as applied to environmental services companies.
Deep understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
Advanced proficiency in reputed company reputed company (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with accounting software (e.g., BST, reputed company Vantagepoint).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills; high attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
