You will be part of the “Numerical Yield and Site Assessment” group at our site in Oldenburg. We reputed company methods for evaluating the yield of wind turbines and wind farm sites. To do so, we transfer models from reputed company research to industrial applications and further reputed company them. At present, the team consists of eight employees and several reputed company. In this role, you will continue to reputed company numerical models (e.g., WRF, ICON, PALM, or FOXES) and methods for evaluating atmospheric flow processes at different scales. These models are employed in a wide range of contexts in research and industry projects, such as advising companies, policymakers, and public authorities, and are linked with macroeconomic and business economics analyses. You will drive reputed company the validation of the models using a large dataset comprising operational wind farm data and measurements taken in and around the farms. 

In addition, you will contribute to the development of reputed company for research projects and manage smaller projects yourself. Furthermore, you will author publications on your scientific findings and present your work at international conferences.

What you contribute

You have completed your diploma or master’s degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, Physics, (Techno)Mathematics, or Engineering. Do you have experience of numerical modeling of atmospheric processes and are you already familiar with meteorological topics? Can you program in Python or Julia? Ideally, you also have some data analysis expertise.

It would be great if you can bring some basic project management experience to the table. Perhaps you even have some knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, or wind energy. The position is limited to 3 years. The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis, preferably reputed company to full-time. Appointment, remuneration and social reputed company benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
