The Medical Auditor

Performs chart audits in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.

• Reviews patient documentation, identifies charging discrepancies, and makes appropriate account adjustments.

• Records charging weaknesses and communicates deficiencies and trends to departmental leadership.

• Contacts staff to obtain missing or additional documentation required to support billed charges.

• Submits analysis of audit results and provides recommendations to management.

• Conducts inservices and education sessions to improve staff understanding of charge accuracy and required documentation.

• Attends professional development seminars and inservices to remain reputed company in clinical procedures and medical documentation standards.

• Keeps updated on allowable procedures and billing requirements in accordance with reputed company policies.

• Reports potential billing or documentation compliance concerns to appropriate leadership.

Education: Associate’s degree is required; 2 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Clinical or coding certification is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital, clinic/physician ambulatory site, or in billing, auditing, or compliance is required.

Licensure/Certification: None required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff and department leaders. Must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills and be self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Proficiency with reputed company Office applications, including Word and reputed company, is required. Must be reputed company to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
