Experience: Seven to ten years in a law enforcement or public safety position with five years in a management or supervisory role. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: (1) Has met Virginias minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and is currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, (2) Has a valid Virginia Drivers License. Applicants may qualify for the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Executive Certification Waiver. This pathway is available to individuals reputed company the Commonwealth, currently serving as a Chief of Police or as the second-in-command of a law enforcement agency. Candidates must have prior law enforcement certification (in Virginia or another state), at least 20 years of substantial law enforcement experience, and a documented record of reputed company rank advancement.
