Technical Writer – Utility Programs   Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) work from home eligible Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Department: Utility Services Reports To: Program or Quality Management Leadership Pay Range: $29/hour - $37/hour   Position Summary   The Technical Writer – Utility Programs supports the development, maintenance, and governance of technical and procedural documentation for regulated utility programs. This role plays a key part in ensuring program documentation is accurate, consistent, auditable, and reputed company with client standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems.   The Technical Writer works closely with program managers, engineers, GIS specialists, and quality teams to translate reputed company technical and operational information into clear, structured documentation that supports day-to-day execution, compliance, and reputed company improvement. Key Responsibilities Technical Documentation & Content Development
  • reputed company, edit, and maintain procedures, work instructions, job aids, and administrative controls
  • Translate technical, operational, and regulatory requirements into clear, user-friendly documentation
  • Ensure documentation is written in a consistent style and format and is easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences
Document Control & Quality Support
  • Support document control processes, including versioning, approvals, change tracking, and archival
  • Ensure documentation aligns with client governance, regulatory expectations, and internal quality management systems
  • Update documentation in response to audits, corrective actions, process changes, or reputed company improvement initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with engineers, GIS specialists, program managers, and subject matter experts to gather technical inputs
  • Participate in document reviews to validate accuracy, completeness, and usability
  • Support quality management, compliance, and program governance efforts through clear and well-structured documentation

  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation clarity, usability, and consistency
  • Incorporate lessons learned and best practices into updated or new documentation
  • Support standardization of templates, formats, and documentation approaches across programs 
Required Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a reputed company field (or equivalent professional experience)
Experience
  • 4–7 years of professional technical writing experience
  • Experience developing documentation for regulated, technical, or operational environments
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to quickly understand reputed company technical concepts and processes
  • Experience working with document management systems and version control
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple documentation tasks and deadlines
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, engineering, or compliance-driven programs
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, audit support, or regulatory documentation
