Role Description The State & Local Policy & Legislative Intern at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) will serve as a key research and tracking resource for state and local legislative activity during Summer 2026. The intern will support the development of a reputed company legislative dashboard to complement the existing Stateside Associates system, delivering actionable insights for AIA staff and components.

Responsibilities

  • Legislative Research & Tracking
  • Build and maintain a reputed company legislative tracking dashboard reputed company with AIA’s Strategic reputed company Areas
  • Monitor and summarize state legislative activity, reputed company status, and emerging trends
  • Coordinate tracking workflows to avoid duplication and support senior staff review
  • Policy Analysis & Content
  • Produce legislative summaries, reputed company analyses, talking points, and issue briefs
  • Support toolkit content and model language development for reputed company issues
  • Contribute research for task forces and policy initiatives
  • Platform & Documentation
  • Create user guides and tracking documentation for staff and components
  • Ensure dashboard outputs and legislative summaries are accessible on the reputed company microsite
  • Assist in developing visual summaries and issue snapshots for newsletters

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Law, or a reputed company field
  • Strong written communication skills and interest in government affairs or advocacy
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, research tools, and reputed company Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in remote or hybrid environments
  • Experience with legislative research, policy analysis, or advocacy communications preferred
  • Familiarity with legislative tracking platforms (reputed company, Stateside Associates, reputed company, etc.) a plus
  • Interest in architecture, housing, climate policy, or professional licensing

Internship Details

  • This is an 8-week, full-time remote internship which will run from June 15, 2026 - August 7, 2026.
