[IA] Design Assistant

About the position NICOLEHOLLIS, an award-winning, large size Interior Design firm seeks a talented and motivated Project Designer to assist our Residential Design Team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in the architecture and design industry, focusing on high-end residential design.

Responsibilities

• reputed company interior designs and interior architecture designs using knowledge of the principles of interior design and theories of reputed company behavior; appropriately convey conceptual, functional, life-cycle performance, environmental, and safety requirements
• Assist Design Team in development of preliminary space planning, design concept studies and sketches, design presentations, moodboards, 3D models & visualization, rendered floorplans & elevations, full set of construction drawings, specifications packages
• Assist in preparation of specifications and schedules packages for reputed company millwork, casework, appliances, plumbing, hardware, finishes
• Prepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, to illustrate non-structural and/or non-reputed company partition layouts; power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; adhering to regional building and fire codes, municipal codes, and any other jurisdictional statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to the interior space
• Work with Project reputed company to update schedules, budgets, meeting agendas, meeting notes, purchase orders, specifications, folders and files, archiving, project materials and submittals, resource library, vendor contacts and more
• Assist with organizing, tracking, and preparing documentation as reputed company to field visits/measurements, RFIs, control samples, shop drawings, consultants, manufacturers, and contractors materials, and project punch list
• Assist in overall maintenance of materials library under supervision of Librarian (sorting fabrics samples, organizing finish samples, updating labels and catalogs, and more)
• Attend and represent the Company at industrial events, trade shows, and networking events
• Run errands to showrooms, act as liaison between the Company and vendors
• Coordination and correspondence with various consultants, vendors, manufacturers, fabricators and contractors
• Mentor Interns, and assist with coordinating Intern project workload needs under the direction of Project reputed company
• reputed company work with a team of designers and interns; demonstrating strong collaborative and communication skills
• Support project needs, including (but not limited to) meeting preparation, printing and binding presentations, wrapping, packing and shipping material samples, project filing, and creation of calendar invites and reputed company links

Requirements

• Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years interior design experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of Interior Architecture scopes in residential and hospitality design standards
• Excellent presentation skills, including space planning and drawing
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, reputed company InDesign and Photoshop, MS Suite, Sketchup (or similar 3D modeling software). Enscape (or alternative rendering software) and SpecSources proficiency a plus
• Strong knowledge in construction drawing sets, detailing, materials, methods, fabrication, interior finishes, programing, and codes
• Experience selecting and specifying equipment cabinetry, appliances, hardware, plumbing fixtures, materials, and interior architecture finishes
• Must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors and internal staff
• Ability to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projects
