Database Administrator (On-site Opportunity)

VetsEZ is currently seeking a Database Administrator in Lancaster, TX, to support the design, development, administration, and support of databases for our federal government client. In this role, you will create, implement and manage expansive database administration programs. The ideal candidate will have experience in reviewing database performance trends and identifying opportunities for improvement. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and maintain the operational environment; sustain capacity and performance requirements; optimize and tune databases for maximum efficiency; keep systems and platforms functioning at 99.9% availability.
  • Maintain and update the database architecture, perform database-related duties such as building schemas, tables, stored procedures, and applying for permissions; provide recommendations on policies and procedures, maintain database utilities, and provide reports and scripts for task automation.
  • Support & Implement SQL Server Analysis, SQL Clustered Column store Index (CCI) technology.
  • Generate/produce queries and reports with SQL Management Studio, SQL server tools, - SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, SSMA, and Sentry Diagnostic Utilities.
  • Create, populate, and maintain databases and data cubes for a variety of analysis and reporting projects.
  • Participate in technical working groups diagnosing issues, strategizing for future requirements, and propose enhancements to increase efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or technical discipline.
  • 5 + years of experience is required with administering database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server and Database Management Systems (DBMS).
  • Create database and file structures to include definitions of file characteristics, file layouts, data dictionary entries, file indices for each subsystem and creating T-SQL stored procedures and queries.
  • Develop new logical and physical data models to accommodate data storage and analysis needs of various data warehousing and analysis projects.
  • Knowledge of database architecture, administration, and security for on-premise and cloud-hosted database systems.
  • Communicate and lead effectively detailed technical discussions and develop and present required briefing materials to ensure the customer’s needs are met.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in the VA or other federal organizations desired.
  • Experience with developing dashboards using Power BI (or equivalent).
  • Ability to obtain a Government clearance.
