Senior Java Developer 100% Remote (EST/CST only) Work Authorization: USC/GC only 12 Months Pay Rate: $90/hr. on W2 Utility company/regulated experience Notes: Remote Java experience required Spring Boots API Azure Communication skills a must Most recent job experience should be hands on development Position Description: The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in PPLs digital transformation by joining a team of developers in migrating from 3 disparate legacy CIS systems to a common instance of SAP IS-U. This team will deliver the necessary integrations using custom microservices written in Java. The candidate is expected to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to deliver results with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop microservices using Java and deploy to Azure while ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Work closely on an agile team composed of analysts, project managers, and functional consultants, to understand requirements and ensure successful delivery of integrations with other systems both internal and external to the company.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Comp Sci, Engineering or a related field and 7+ years of experience in full-stack application development.
- Hands-on development as primary duty of most recent experience.
- Deep hands-on experience developing and debugging APIs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Required Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Java 17 or newer.
- Extensive knowledge in SQL, RESTful APIs, and Web Services.
- Experience with API frameworks like Sprint Boot, Micronaut, and ASP.NET Core.
- Proficient with Git (or similar), Azure DevOps CI/CD, and API testing tools like Postman and SoapUI.
- Knowledge of SOLID principles, secure coding, microservice architecture.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in multiple project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe, etc.).
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or Jira work management tools.
- Prior Electric and/or Gas Utilities industry experience.
- Prior experience with large complex enterprise systems.
