Purpose Reporting to the Director of Life Science Technology Development, the Project Manager of Medical Device Technology Commercial Development leads the milestone-driven development of medical technologies, including devices and software, from early-stage concepts to licensable, reputed company-of-concept stage products.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: Evaluating Identifying medical device or biomedical technology assets with potential for clinical benefit and commercial viability. Developing relationships and securing resources from governmental, non-profit, and for-profit organizations to support technology development. Developing a network of technology development resource reputed company and creating a process to match technologies with the best-fit resource. Managing Managing technology development professionals, including employees, vendors, and contractors. Manage technology development projects selected as having the greatest likelihood of commercial success. Integrating and collaborating with other UT Austin business development and IP management teams. Upholding compliance with regulatory requirements in reputed company areas of operations. Collaborating Collaborating on developing business plans and investor materials for early-stage technology development funding. Developing and implementing operational plans for technology development that work toward the organization’s strategic priorities. Assisting with developing key performance indicators to track reputed company towards those goals. Contributing to the achievement of reputed company and technology development funding targets. Contributing to growing a culture of innovation at UT Austin by educating faculty and staff about technology commercialization and inspiring records of invention. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in health care industry (medical devices, HIT) required. Training in Engineering or science, technology or mathematics discipline Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated success in team participation is required. Significant experience with medical technology development and commercialization. Experience in managing vendors and contractors in technology development. Knowledge of regulatory requirements reputed company to medical devices and software.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in forging strategic relationships with industry, investors and regional economic development organizations. A degree in an engineering discipline, mechanical, electrical or chemical is preferred. An MBA degree. Experience in consumer product development Salary Range $140,000+ depending on qualifications Working Conditions Work is performed in standard office environment. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation and prolonged screen time. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. Work Shift Work schedule is typically Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule and/or remote work may be allowed.
