Planning & Reserving Associate
Safety National is a leading specialty insurance and reinsurance provider, dedicated to empowering informed decision-making through financial planning and data-driven insights. As a Planning & Reserving Associate, you will support financial planning and reserving processes, working with data to build and maintain financial plans while collaborating across departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting outputs.
Responsibilities
- Support the company’s financial planning and reserving processes
- Work hands-on with data to help build, update, and maintain financial plans, including working through prior year plans and refining them for current use
- Assist in reviewing actuarial reserving outputs and incorporating feedback to ensure accuracy and alignment with business needs
- Create and maintain reports, analyze results, and respond to questions from stakeholders regarding financial plans and reporting outputs
- Collaborate across departments to gather inputs, ensure consistency in data, and support the development of planning exhibits and projections
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field is required
- Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
- This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to perform VLOOKUPs, create pivot tables, and write custom formulas
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with data
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment
- 1 or more years of relevant professional experience in an accounting, reporting, or data-focused role is preferred
- Public accounting experience or corporate accounting experience is preferred
- Basic knowledge of the insurance industry and financial processes
- Exposure to financial analysis, forecasting, or actuarial concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
