About Us
Life is better when youâre with friends. Clubhouse is home to millions of people around the world who use it to meet new friends, have fun, and join amazing conversations throughout the day. Our design team is focused on reimagining Clubhouse â helping people meet, talk, and connect in brand-new ways, including using AI to create magical, people-first experiences that foster genuine community. Weâre well-funded by a16z and dozens of the worldâs best angel investors, giving us years of runway to focus on what we do best: building products that people love. As an early member of the design team, youâll have a critical voice in shaping the future of Clubhouse and significant influence over the direction of the company. If you are a talented builder whoâs interested in joining us, weâd love to talk. The Role As a member of the design team, youâll work closely with our founders, product, research, engineering, data science, and marketing teams to design features for the Clubhouse product. We are a remote friendly-company â with our headquarters in San Francisco and a strong commitment to ensuring people can do great work here and thrive without having to live near an office. This role is open to candidates across the U.S. Who you are
- You are an experienced full-stack designer. While you might be stronger in certain areas than others, youâre comfortable with all aspects of design. You have an eye for visual craft and care deeply about typography and layout. You love to prototype end-to-end flows and microinteractions.
- You are a systems thinker. You are thoughtful about things like network structure, follow models, user discovery, and privacy tools. You understand the importance of sequencing and stage your work accordingly. You build style guides and color palettes, and you design experiences where everything fits together.
- You understand the psychology of social products. You constantly focus on user motivations. You wonder about how an interaction will make people feel and how it will affect their status. You think about different audiences. You look for the little big details that will delight people at just the right moment.
- You are detail oriented. You take pride in thinking through every edge case, empty state, and error state. You notice when things are a half pixel off. You obsess over animations, transitions and copy because you know what a difference these things make.
- You are fluent with tools. Your Figma files are meticulously organized. You have strong opinions on which tools to use and have finely-tuned systems for exporting assets, getting feedback, and working efficiently with engineers.
- You take pride in what you do. You care deeply about your work. If something seems off, you come up with a good solution and fix it without being asked to do so. Youâre proactive with suggestions and people know they can count on you to get things done.
- You bias towards action.
- You like to build and ship â favoring practical choices, speed and a respect for sequencing. You focus on the things that matter and push back on things that donât. You make deadlines for yourself and you move fast.
- Youâre scrappy and entrepreneurial. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable with not knowing the answer to something. You are willing to roll up your sleeves no matter what the challenge is.
- You enjoy your work. You love what you do, not because you feel you have to, but because youâre so excited to create something big for the world. Your favorite thing to do is to take on a huge challenge and pull it off.
- You care about doing the right thing. You value diversity and go out of your way to ensure others feel welcome. You enjoy hanging out with your teammates, have a low-ego, and make the workplace more fun for everyone.
What you will do
- Youâll design features that ship. As part of the Clubhouse team, you will move fast. Whether itâs pushing a visual fix immediately after seeing it or designing a thoughtful invite model that will help Clubhouse scale to millions of users, youâll constantly be building and shipping quality product. With your teammates, youâll be amazed by how much you get done.
- Youâll shape the product. You will use what you designâand talk with others while they are using itâevery day. As the champion of the user, you will have major input into the productâs development and future direction. Your ideas will always be heard.
- Youâll grow and improve rapidly. At Clubhouse youâll be working with an incredible team, who love to learn from and teach each other. Youâll find yourself stretching to new areas, immersed in feedback, challenged by your teammates, and growing your skills on a daily basis.
- Youâll be an owner. We believe in hiring people and giving them as much responsibility as they can handle. Whether itâs leading a visual redesign, building out a new platform, or designing a scalable network growth model, we will trust your judgment, give you autonomy, and always have your back.
- Youâll create something meaningful. Social products allow people to connect in ways that were never before possible. When the telephone was invented, it suddenly allowed people to speak with others across the world. Thanks to FaceTime, grandparents everywhere can now watch their grandchildren grow up. At Clubhouse, youâll be figuring out something entirely new for the worldâa positive product that helps fill everyoneâs life with rich and meaningful friendship.
What you can expect As a member of our team, you can choose to work in person â at our beautiful, creative HQ in San Francisco â or fully remote. You can expect competitive base pay (currently $218,000 - $255,000 for this role), meaningful ownership in the company, great benefits, and constant advancement opportunities. More importantly, we will invest deeply in your development and work every day to ensure it is the best professional experience of your life.
