Remote Tax Accountant

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Tax Accountant to join their finance department. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the US. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing tax returns for individuals and corporations, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. You will play a crucial role in tax planning, strategy development, and advising clients on tax-efficient practices. Responsibilities

Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns for various entities, including individuals, partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps. Conduct thorough tax research to ensure compliance with complex and evolving tax laws. Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients, identifying strategies to minimize tax liabilities. Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities. Assist with audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations. Maintain accurate and organized client tax files and records. Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and regulations. Develop and implement best practices for tax preparation and compliance. Communicate effectively with clients regarding their tax situations, providing clear explanations and recommendations. Collaborate with internal accounting teams to ensure seamless integration of tax services. Utilize accounting software and tax preparation tools efficiently. Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field. CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation and compliance, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., ProConnect, Lacerte, Drake) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines in a remote setting. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
