Remote from Malta (Service Agreement) Our client, a new EMI in Malta, is looking for a Senior Payments & Operations Specialist to manage daily payment operations, banking relationships, reconciliations, and crypto-related transactions. This role sits at the centre of the business, working closely with Finance, Technology, Compliance, and Customer Support teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

Payments & Banking Operations Manage relationships with banking partners and payment providers. Handle payment issues, escalations, disputes, chargebacks, and refunds. Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from financial institutions. Monitor liquidity levels across FIAT and crypto payment channels. Reconciliation & Reporting Perform regular reconciliations across payment flows, balances, and FX positions. Investigate discrepancies and work with internal teams to resolve issues. Escalate suspicious activity and operational risks when identified. Crypto Operations Investigate and resolve blockchain transaction issues across multiple networks. Monitor network conditions and transaction performance. Execute crypto exchanges and support transaction monitoring processes. Operations & Support Act as an escalation point for complex payment-related cases. Maintain client records and operational documentation. Create and improve SOPs, operational workflows, and internal processes. Support training and knowledge sharing within the Operations team.

Requirements

Experience with payment operations, banking integrations, SWIFT, SEPA, FX, and reconciliations. Good understanding of crypto transactions, blockchain networks, and transaction monitoring. Experience handling disputes, chargebacks, RFIs, and operational investigations. Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Knowledge of AML, compliance processes, and fraud escalation procedures. Experience using AI tools to improve workflows and efficiency.

Nice to Have

Experience with Intercom and Sumsub. Liquidity management and financial reporting experience. Exposure to crypto monitoring tools. Experience working closely with Finance and Technology teams.
