Join arenaflex as a Data Center Technician

Are you ready to be at the heart of technological innovation? arenaflex is looking for motivated individuals to join our dynamic Hardware Operations team as Data Center Technicians. In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining and deploying the physical infrastructure that powers arenaflex's industry-leading search technology and cloud services. Whether you're just starting your career in tech or looking to transition into a more technical role, this position offers an exceptional introduction to the broader engineering world at arenaflex.

At arenaflex, we believe that great technology starts with robust infrastructure. Every online experience our users enjoy is made possible by the powerful systems our Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains. From data centers to next-generation platforms, we ensure that arenaflex's product portfolio operates seamlessly across the globe. If you're someone who loves taking things apart to understand how they work—and then rebuilding them better—we're excited to have you on our team.

About the Role

The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and deploying the modern physical infrastructure behind arenaflex's powerful search engine and cloud computing services. As a Data Center Technician, you will be instrumental in installing, configuring, and maintaining arenaflex's advanced data center server and network infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while developing valuable skills in hardware operations, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management.

Your responsibilities will range from the physical deployment of data center-related equipment to collaborating closely with various stakeholders across engineering teams. You will ensure that our goals, missions, and tasks are effectively delivered—and more importantly, that they are repeatable across our global array of data facilities. This position provides an excellent foundation for professionals looking to expand their careers in technical fields.

Depending on your location, interests, capabilities, and geographical mobility, you may have the opportunity to grow both within Hardware Operations or transition toward software development, engineering, networking operations, or project management teams. arenaflex is committed to supporting your career growth and helping you find the path that's right for you.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Technician at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with meaningful responsibilities that directly impact our operations. Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Infrastructure Deployment: Contribute to and lead efforts and projects involving the deployment, maintenance, and support of new and existing data center infrastructure. You'll work on installing servers, networking equipment, and supporting systems that keep arenaflex running smoothly.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Participate in or lead complex troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and resolve critical or escalated technical problems. You'll develop problem-solving skills that are highly valued across the technology industry.
  • Hardware Testing: Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs, providing valuable feedback to engineering teams to improve future iterations of our infrastructure.
  • Operating System Configuration: Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-related problems on servers, developing proficiency with one of the most widely used operating systems in the industry.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Deploy and maintain arenaflex's advanced data center server and network infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and performance for our global operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders, including software engineers, network operations teams, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Project Leadership: Lead or participate in project teams on large-scale installations and develop project contingency plans to ensure successful outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who bring a combination of technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a passion for learning. While formal experience is helpful, at arenaflex, we value potential and the desire to grow as much as we value prior experience.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience and certifications will also be considered.
  • Technical Fundamentals: Knowledge of troubleshooting hardware and software problems, with familiarity using Linux command-line tools and utilities.
  • Environment Experience: Experience or familiarity working in a data center or network operations center environment, including understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such settings.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing computer, server, and network hardware issues, with the ability to systematically approach complex problems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and stakeholders, documenting issues and solutions accurately.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving infrastructure requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

If you have any of the following experiences, they'd be a welcome addition to your application:

  • Programming Skills: Experience with mild coding or scripting in languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl. Even basic familiarity with automation scripts is valuable.
  • Project Management: Experience in project control and leadership, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating resources effectively.
  • Networking Knowledge: Experience with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and routing concepts. Understanding of network topologies and configurations is a plus.
  • Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with teams to overcome technical challenges. Experience in cross-functional team environments is highly valued.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent are a bonus but not required.

Skills & Competencies

To succeed in this role, you'll need to develop or possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with computer hardware, servers, and networking equipment. Willingness to learn specialized tools and equipment specific to data center operations.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation, configuration, and maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Physical Aptitude: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting equipment (up to 50 pounds), working in confined spaces, and handling sensitive electronic components.
  • Time Management: Effective prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Continuous Learning: Eagerness to expand knowledge through training, certifications, and hands-on experience.
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety protocols when working with electrical equipment and in data center environments.
