Role Overview – Media Operations Specialist (Remote)

arenaflex is seeking a detail‑oriented, tech‑savvy Media Operations Specialist to join our Sports Content Ingest team. This remote, full‑time position plays a critical role in ingesting, processing, and delivering sports and entertainment content to millions of viewers worldwide. You will work closely with production crews, engineering teams, and external partners to ensure flawless playback, transcoding, and archiving of live and pre‑recorded assets.

As a key member of the Media Operations group, you will be the guardian of content quality, the conduit for technical workflows, and the problem‑solver who keeps our streaming pipelines humming even under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ingest & Playback Management: Assemble, validate, and distribute all server‑based media files used for recording and playback across arenaflex’s streaming platforms.
  • Quality Assurance: Review video and audio quality for live and recorded programming, enforce technical standards, and perform on‑the‑fly edits to meet arenaflex’s stringent guidelines.
  • Technical Operations: Operate a wide range of broadcast equipment—including standard‑definition and high‑definition systems, content management tools, encoding platforms, server storage, tape decks, EVS units, and broadcast switches.
  • Deadline‑Driven Execution: Thrive in a fast‑paced environment, meeting tight broadcast deadlines while maintaining accuracy and composure.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Interpret complex technical data, generate concise reports for cross‑functional teams, and recommend workflow improvements.
  • Process Documentation: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of SOPs, training manuals, and knowledge‑base articles for media operations.
  • Collaboration & Training: Partner with engineering, production, and vendor teams to troubleshoot issues, and mentor junior staff on best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify automation opportunities, propose enhancements to existing tools, and pilot new technologies that increase efficiency.
  • Shift Flexibility: Provide coverage for late‑night, weekend, and holiday shifts to support live sports events and global content releases.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on television production experience at a major market or network level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines, independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) and a solid understanding of computer fundamentals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support live event coverage.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in a live production environment, such as a sports broadcast or news operation.
  • Familiarity with server‑based recording/playback systems and non‑linear editing platforms (e.g., Quantel, Avid, Adobe Premiere).
  • Knowledge of transcoding workflows, EVS systems, and file format specifications.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is a strong advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in broadcast engineering or media technology.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues across a variety of broadcast equipment.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to quality control, ensuring every frame meets arenaflex’s standards.
  • Problem‑Solving: Quick thinker who can devise effective solutions under pressure.
  • Team Collaboration: Works seamlessly with cross‑functional teams, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a constantly evolving media landscape and adopting new tools.
  • Communication: Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills for reporting and training.
