Position Summary This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys both precision and people-focused work. As Missionwell’s Payroll & HR Specialist, you’ll primarily manage accurate, compliant payroll for multiple clients while also serving as a trusted partner for day-to-day HR support. You’ll help create smooth employee experiences, solve problems, improve processes, and build strong client relationships, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, service-minded, and excited to make an impact. Primary Responsibilities – Payroll (70%)

  • Process multi-client payrolls accurately and on time
  • Manage workflow and ensure deadlines are met
  • Validate timecards, approvals, and payroll changes
  • Reconcile payroll and validate reports
  • Process off-cycle payroll items
  • Ensure compliance with wage/hour and tax laws
  • Troubleshoot payroll/HRIS issues
  • Support year-end payroll reporting
  • Identify and implement payroll efficiencies

Primary Responsibilities – HR Support (30%)

  • Serve as HR contact for assigned clients
  • Support onboarding/offboarding and employee lifecycle
  • Maintain HR systems and documentation
  • Assist with benefits and employee inquiries
  • Provide professional client-facing HR guidance
  • Escalate complex HR matters

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (minimum) in related field preferred
  • 3+ years payroll and HR experience (multi-state preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Competent in spreadsheets and the use of formulas
  • Client-facing experience (customer success, consulting, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills with executive presence
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (Paylocity, ADP, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated punctuality, dependability, and ability to work independently in an efficient and effective manner
  • Must?reside?in one of the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL,?GA,?IL,?MT, NC,?NJ, NV, TN, or VA

  • Manage?action items with status updates in?Missionwell’s?project management tools;?maintain accurate?timekeeping.??
  • Stay?informed of organizational announcements, activities, and changes via regular?review?of?Missionwell’s?communication tools.?
  • Maintain a professional development plan for yourself and present this to your supervisor for regular, quarterly review and support.?
  • Ensure?strict confidentiality in all aspects of the job.?
  • Attend and?participate?in staff and team meetings as?requested.?
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested or as assigned.?

Physical Requirements? The physical demands of this position vary depending on specific tasks and projects. Essential physical requirements include the following:

  • The ability to read, write, do math, talk, and listen are normal and frequent parts of the role.?
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, or typing.??
  • Repetitive hand, arm, and finger movement.?
  • Occasional lifting of 25?lbs?or less.?

Schedule? This role is expected to average approximately 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary by the employee’s time zone, but schedules should overlap with Missionwell’s standard business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST as much as possible. Work Location and Technology Requirements:?

  • This position is remote; however, occasional travel may be?required
  • A dedicated workspace that is free from distractions and offers privacy for confidential matters
  • Reliable internet access
