Staff Civil Engineer
Description:
- Manage multiple civil engineering projects through planning, design, bid, and construction phases.
- Develop civil engineering deliverables such as construction documents, drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations.
- Communicate project needs, changes, schedules, and status to internal stakeholders and external team members.
- Review drawings and proposals from vendors, engineers, and architects and coordinate across multiple disciplines.
- Manage external civil engineering consultants, including scope of work, deliverables, budget, and project execution.
- Perform constructability reviews and support permitting and agency coordination with Storey County and other authorities having jurisdiction.
- Resolve civil RFIs and field changes during construction.
- Ensure all design deliverables comply with company processes, applicable codes and standards, and regulatory and safety requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE); Nevada licensure required or obtainable via comity within 2 months of hire.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and building high-tech or industrial infrastructure and operational facilities, or battery energy storage system deployments.
- Experience in civil engineering design including stormwater management plans, SWPPPs, heavy civil, wastewater, and industrial construction.
- Site development experience with roadways, grading, pavements, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, domestic and fire water mains, erosion and sediment control, and traffic plans.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and hydrology/stormwater management software.
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, and NFPA, with the ability to research local jurisdictional requirements quickly.
- Ability to conduct, document, and stamp engineering calculations and design packages using established procedures and safety requirements.
- Ability to manage external civil consultants through scope, schedule, deliverables, and budget across project phases.
- Ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment; travel up to 10% between Nevada plant sites.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, contractors, and AHJs.
