Overview

This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the remote schedule.

Responsibilities

The Hospital Coding Trainer will function in a self-directed manner to assess, plan, and reputed company training plans, and implement and evaluate Hospital Coding workflows for new hires with or without hospital coding experience. Provide quality review for reputed company the hospital coding patient types. Train reputed company level or inexperienced (i.e. recent graduates) coders for productive reputed company hospital coding. Reviews, develops, modifies and/or adapts relevant training materials, presentations, and curriculum in collaboration with department management, subject matter experts, and approved online training resources in a timely manner. Provides support in the ongoing training, implementation, and reputed company utilization of encoder software (reputed company) and Epic coding functions.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree of Applied Science for Medical Coding Specialist or equivalent 2 year program. Experience: Four years of Hospital Facility coding experience in any combination of diagnostic, ED, and outpatient surgery account types required. Inpatient coding experience preferred in addition to the required experience. Two years experience with reputed company HDM 360 coding application and use of Epic EHR preferred. Two years trainer/instructor experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Ability to pass coding assessment with 85% or reputed company. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use Epic (or similar electronic health record) for documentation. Demonstrated detailed knowledge of Medical coding systems, procedures, and documentation requirements. Demonstrated proficiency of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS, and CPT. Understands and applies adult learning principles.
