Position Summary:

The Supervisor, Quality Engineering will work closely with other functional groups involved with the launch of new products and Sustainment of existing ones. This will include other groups within the Manufacturing Engineering organization, Supply Chain, Production, R&D and the Repair Centre. The Supervisor, Quality Engineering will be accountable for the development of Quality deliverables for new products, such as PPAP, FAIs of custom components and IQC Inspections of key components. They will facilitate the creation of cross functional teams to investigate the root causes of problems impacting Production or the end customer and drive activities coming from these investigations such as NCRs, SCARs and corrective actions. The Supervisor, Quality Engineering will be responsible for identifying staff and equipment needs and will provide directions, task assignments and coaching to the Quality Engineering Team.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop quality engineering processes the Quality Engineering team will utilize to support NPI and Sustaining activities
  • Investigate and contain customer, production, and vendor non-conformances. Facilitate the creation of cross functional teams and drive RCA investigations and corrective actions
  • Review quality processes to identify opportunities for improvement and document changes in processes, procedures, and work instructions, as necessary
  • Develop and maintain quality related metrics and report those metrics to stakeholders (e.g. number of outstanding NCRs, SCARS, RCA investigations, closure rate of NCRs)
  • Support discussions related to the impact’s quality issues have on NPI projects and Production (e.g. MRB meetings, material disposition)
  • Develop quality deliverables for NPI project developments and work with appropriate stakeholders and vendors to implement them. (e.g. FAI, IQC, PPAP)
  • Complete both remote and on-site audits of key vendors. On-site audits will entail international travel
  • Provide direction to the Quality Engineering Team regarding task assignment and prioritization
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the Quality Engineering Team to help maximize their potential
  • Stay current with that status of Quality Engineering deliverables being or needing to be developed. Escalate where necessary when deliverables can no longer be completed to expectations
  • Identify the staff and resourcing needs
  • Familiarize yourself with the various test and measurement equipment used to verify the quality of Vecima products

Position requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering in a leadership role
  • Knowledge of Core Tools: APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC and Continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, ISO9001-2015
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to drive root cause analysis
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Meticulous with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in electronics manufacturing
