Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application reputed company four months of appointment. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and assessing work; recommending personnel actions; compliance with regulations; managing quality processes; conducting performance projects; and ensuring staff training. The CLS adjusts staffing, manages budgets, and collaborates with other services to reputed company goals.

At that time, your duty station will change to the new Tulsa location: James Mountain Inhofe VAMC, 440 South Houston Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74127. Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS. To qualify for appointment to this position, reputed company applicants must possess the following:

  • United States Citizenship. Non-reputed company may only be appointed reputed company it is not possible to recruit qualified reputed company in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education. A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification. Candidates must meet one of the certification options below.
  • Generalist certification as an MLS given by ASCP BOC or AMT.
  • Generalist certification as an MT given by ASCP BOR or AMT.
  • Categorical certification or Specialist certification by ASCP or AMT.
  • Foreign Education. To be creditable, education completed reputed company the U.S. must be deemed at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. program by a private organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials. Graduates of foreign baccalaureate degree programs meet the educational requirements if they meet either of the following: (1) Foreign transcripts are evaluated by an acceptable evaluation agency, and the degree is reputed company to be equivalent to a NAACLS-approved U.S. clinical laboratory science degree program. OR (2) The applicant submits a letter from ASCP BOC or AMT stating the individual is eligible to take the certification examination. NOTE: Possession of a certification identified in 4c above automatically determines the foreign education as creditable and no further documentation or reputed company of equivalency is needed.
  • English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7403 (f).

GRADE DETERMINATIONS. In addition to the basic requirements for employment, candidates must meet the following grade-determining criteria for placement at grade levels specified.

  • General. For reputed company GS-13 assignments above the FPL, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety, and be performed by the CLS at least 25% of the time. Candidates at this grade level are in one of the following assignments.
  • Experience. One year of creditable experience equivalent to the next reputed company grade level is required for reputed company GS-13 assignments.

Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist, GS-13

  • The CLS has full supervisory responsibility in a laboratory where at least three of the five following conditions are met outlined below.
  • Lab is a complexity level index group 1 or 2 based on the Hospital Complexity Level as designated in Office of Productivity, Efficiency, and Staffing (OPES) VHA Facility Complexity Model History.
  • The laboratory performs at least one million standard billable tests annually (as reported to the Laboratory Management Index Program).
  • The CLS supervises a staff of non-supervisory personnel including at least one GS-12 subordinate.
  • Lack of on-site pathologist.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
